The Fall of Single Feather...

Mates.

Particularly, project mates.

After working with both genders for projects, I found great differences in working with either side.

Firstly, the males.

I was always that one that initiated the work. 97% of the meeting time would be spent on trash talking and doing nothing, and playing games.

90% if the non work time would be spent on playing Halo.

Not that I like it or anything.

Secondly, the females.

I was the last to reach the group meeting. We were supposed to meet at 10.00am, and I reached at 10:03 am, thinking that I would be early.

They had already started work by the time I reached there. It made me feel horribly guilty and evil. By the time I set down and started my laptop, they had assigned work for everyone.

By the time we needed to start our next class, we finished our presentation slides.

If only I could achieve this in secondary school life.

If only...

If only...

The Fall of Single Feather...

Tiger

I had my first Muay Thai class today.

A really basic class, with footwork, jabs, cross/straight punch and blocking.

Jabs aren't as easy as I thought it would be. Didn't think that I actually have to shift my left leg to put in my body weight...

...

How many of you would actually understand this?

To summarize things, class was awesome.

The teacher was cool and friendly. The drills we did were pretty cool.

And my big toes hurt from too much weight shifting.

Street

To reminisce the good old days when people play Street Fighter II, let me show you guys a picture.

A little of my reminisce of my good old days.

And why I say Maris Stella is epic, and difficult to have a similar experience outside.

You can't expect me to do this in front of.... you know.

Class.

First class today, with a record breaking of 12 guys.

There are 5 classes, with about 25 people in a class, so that makes an estimation of 120 people.

Which means its a ratio of 1 guy to 10 girls.

Not bad, compared to 5 guys last year.

------------------------

According to what I learn today, Children, has 4 areas of development.

Physcial
Intellectual
Emotional
Social

The teacher posed us a question when she talked about this topic. "Which area of development is the most important?"

Most of us replied Emotional.

Parents would probably reply Intellectual for obvious reasons.

But, the real answer?

All of them are equally important. There is one specific reason, the areas are inter-linked.

Let me give you one example.

There is a student that is exceptionally smart. He could read chim Vocabs for his age, write and explain chim vocabs, and even use those words in sentences. He could sit down attentively and listen to every single word of the teacher who is telling him a story.

However, he is a little wide sized.

This caused him to be neglected when playing games or sports with his friends. Keeping on getting insulted, and hurt emotionally.

Of course, this also hurts him socially, since his most of his friends ignore him, his social circle was also destroyed.

In the end, a perfect development in Intellectual did not prove anything.

However, one bad development in Physical area, caused a downgrade in Emotional and Social development.

See the point?

The Fall of Single Feather...

Choices.

In life, people are given many choices, and people make many different choices.

It could be choices that have to be made everyday.

i.e. When you wake up, and deciding whether you should really get off your bed.

It could be choices that you make rarely.

i.e. I'll start to lose weight from today! (Or maybe not so rare...)

It could be choices, that don't really matter.

i.e. Chicken rice, or Duck rice for lunch?

It could be gratifying choices.

i.e. Should I hit on her or not??

It could be lame choices.

i.e. Oh my god, Spongebob is showing on OKTO and NICKLEODEN! Which one should I watch?

Anyway, I, myself have some pretty huge choices in my life.

And, right now, I am having troubles making a choice.

A really good and delicious cake from Patissieur, or A really good and delicious burger from Carl's Jr. for my birthday?

ARGH.

Camp.

Back from it. Physically only.

My mind is still in camp mode. Everytime I'm thinking about the usual cheers, screams, bed, and people.

It's as if the GLs and Exco members are in my brain.

>_>

The camp has four groups, each with their own colour/affinity.

Speaking of teams would naturally remind you competition, and thus, a winner.

And that is what we're known as.

My group won every single event overall.

Even those we didn't planned to. I mean, who goes for a shopping detour in a game, and yet still comes into first place?

It doesn't make much sense!

Of course, there are events where SOME people had to make SOME SACRIFICE, in order to win.

Still.

Anyway, I joined Facebook in an effort to get my unglam photos.

*sigh*

Reason.

People have different kinds of reasons for doing certain things.

Some people like burgers because they simply taste too good, or because they are filling.

Either way, they like burgers.

Likewise, some people take the choice to study Early Childhood Education (ECH) because they love kids.

However, this one particular kid, chose to study ECH, because he likes to interact with people, especially teaching. Plus, kids says the funniest and most interesting things.

Not because he like kids.

It's a total different matter, but it leads to the same consequence.

See?

Stop asking. I don't have a particular fondness for children, nor have a weak spot for their so called uber cuteness.

...

Besides, I like to see kids growing into nice people, and knowing, myself that I made that change.

I'll feel proud.

Won't you?

The Fall of Single Feather...

Ahem.

I feel like I have a lot of things to post about but I can't remember what.

...

Anyway, I had to teach my student sexual reproduction in human today.

It took me only ten minutes to finish the whole chapter.

Not that I was lazy or anything, its just that if I make a comparison with it and the sexual reproduction in plants, it was quite easy to teach.

I was seriously hoping that she won't ask how we "pollinate".

And she didn't.

So I'm quite safe. For now.

Sadly, though, she is still getting 24/30 for her maths tests. Stupid mistakes.

Wrote down 5 as the answer when she answered in the working as 8.

Oh god...

Tell me why. WHY?

The Fall of Single Feather...

Shooters.

An article from Yahoo! Singapore.

PARIS (AFP) - - Slaying hordes of bad guys -- the more the better -- in fast-paced video games improves vision, a study published Sunday showed for the first time.

Far from being harmful to eyesight, as some had feared, action games such as Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, or Left 4 Dead provide excellent training for what eye doctors call contrast sensitivity, the study found.

Contrast sensitivity is the ability to notice tiny changes in shades of grey against a uniform background, and is critical to everyday activities such as night driving and reading. It often degrades with age.

The findings, published in Nature Neuroscience, reveal a previously unsuspected adaptability in the brain, and could open the way to new therapies, the researchers said.

"This is not a skill that people were supposed to get better at by training," said Daphne Bavelier, a professor at the University of Rochester in New York state and the study's lead researcher.

"It was something that we corrected for at the level of the optics of the eye -- to get better contrast detection you get glasses or laser surgery."

"What we found is that even without this correction you can help your brain make better use of whatever information is received from your retina," she said in a phone interview.

For the study, Bavelier and three colleagues conducted two sets of experiments.

In the first, they compared the contrast sensitivity of hard-core action game players with video game aficionados of the same age who preferred less rapid-fire fare.

In action games, players typically target and shoot figures that pop up suddenly on a computer screen.

The researchers found that the action buffs were 50 percent more efficient at detecting contrast.

But there remained a chicken-or-egg question: had their vision been improved by playing, or did they become action game players because they had better than average contrast sensitivity to start with?

To find out, Bavelier asked two groups of non-action video game players to undergo 50 hours of training. One played a popular point-and-shoot game called Call of Duty, and the other played a game that offered a rich visual experience, but one bereft of action.

"We found that the people in the first group improved by 43 percent, and the other group not at all," she said.

As important, the study also found that the improvement was not transitory. "The positive effect remained months, even years after training, indicating long-lasting gains," she added.

Is there some limit beyond which playing action games loses its positive effect or becomes detrimental? Can you, in other words, have too much of a "good thing"?

"For your visual system, probably not. For your social life, perhaps," said Bavelier.

The Fall of Single Feather...

Album.

New one.

[V1:] Take time to realize,
That your warmth is, Crashing down on in.
Take time to realize,
That I am on your side
Didn't I, Didn't I tell you.

But I can't spell it out for you,
No it's never gonna be that simple
No I can't spell it out for you

[C:] If you just realize what I just realized,
Then we'd be perfect for each other
And will never find another
Just realize what I just realized
We'd never have to wonder if
We missed out on each other now.

[V2:] Take time to realize
Oh-oh I'm on your side
Didn't I, didn't I tell you.
Take time to realize
This all can pass you by.. Didn't I tell you

But I can't spell it out for you,
No its never gonna be that simple
No I can't spell it out for you.

[C:] If you just realize what I just realized
Then we'd be perfect for each other
Then we'd never find another
Just realize what I just realized
We'd never have to wonder if
We missed out on each other now.

[V3:] It's not always the same
No it's never the same
If you don't feel it too.
If you meet me half way
If you could meet me half way.
It could be the same for you.

[C:] If you just realize what I just realized
Then we'd be perfect for each other
Then we'd never find another
Just realize what I just realized
We'd never have to wonder
Just realize what I just realized

OoOoOOo

Chicken.

Not chicken chop, not chicken cutlet, not chicken rice, not anything food related.

Neither is it the animal, or a reference for cowardice.

And not talking about chicks either. The spelling is already different.

I'm talking about this:

Chicken Pox.

My sister's dear DAUGHTER got infected with chicken pox somehow.

See the red dots? No? Try enlarging the picture by clicking on it. The red arrows point to some of the dots.

The pimple like thingies only make HER look more manly.

Not that I mind if you call her a boy, cause she really looks like one.

Only thing that I mind, is that my sisters and mother still kisses her face despite the sticky, exploding, yucky, gross yellowish green liquid that is trapped inside the red dots.

*shrugs*

Women. Go figure.
