Play

has many, many definitions as well.

Needless to say, it is something kind of difficult to define or explain.

After all, play to someone, could be work to others.

For instance, Early Childhood Education is no different than playing is to me, but to others, it is a lot of shit.

To me, play is defined as something that is fun, and something that allows me to learn something.

So, sports is play. Martial arts is play. Lego is play. Early childhood education is play.

It does not have to involve physical movement, but brain activity is probably required.

Professionalism

I have a module in my course based on Professional development.

In this case, naturally it talks about developing professionally as a teacher.

For the first lesson, the teacher briefly went through the ideas of being a professional; the characteristics, and values of a professional.

According to what we have discussed, being a professional is many things.

A professional must dress appropriately.
A professional must be reliable.
A professional must be composed.
A professional must have good hygiene.
A professional must have initiative.
A professional must be honest.
A professional must have a good attitude.
A professional must have a good attendance.

Just basing on this I can tell you who is and is not a professional.

This is just a few from those from my list.

However, above all else, I believe that a professional must be respectful. He must be respectful. He must be willing to act. He must be willing to go the extra mile.

Even if he has not thing to do, a professional should always be ready and prepare for what is to come. He doesn't need to have work to have work to do. A professional makes the lives of others easier.

A professional puts other people at ease.

A professional does what has to do.

Honestly, all that I have said is the same thing. But this shows how important it really is.

Towers

I am addicted to Icy tower.

I used to play it in the school computer lab at Maris Stella but was never really good at it.

At least, compared to Leon.

But right now, it gives me a tremendous morale boost when it says "You passed ____"

Hence, I'm addicted to Icy tower.

Go play it in facebook.

The Fall of Single Feather...

Differences

There are a couple of differences between Japan and Singapore that I really wanted to talk about.

Certain things to be clarified, and certain to be shared.

However, I have to say that all of these are simply my point of views. It might not be right. At the very least, I think it is.

-------------------

1) Women

Yes, Japan has more beautiful women. They are not inproportionate in the least, at least I've only seen 1 or 2 in the course of my 12 day stay.

They are only more beautiful because they know how to dress up.

Awesome make up, nice outfits (not talking about the lolita/punk/pink dresses). All of these made them more... pleasant looking. And I think Singaporeans can be like that too. If you think about it, the good looking girls are just the ones who happen to dress better. That's all.

2) Service

To be fair, I wouldn't say that every service person(or wadever its called. You know what I'm talking about.) in Singapore is poorer than Japan in terms of service. It just happens that Japanese make more effort in providing good service.

The difference is really easily to be spotted.

When I got off the plane back to Singapore, there was 1 crew member from the Japan airline, and 2 members from Changi aiport waiting at the exit.

The Japanese staff was smiling very sweetly, while the other two looked... you know.

Of course, there are staff in Singapore that actually smiles when they serve you. Only that in Japan, its almost everyone.

Sure, it's not easy to maintain a smile for the whole day, but the if the Japanese can do it, why can't we?

3) Cleanliness

I think its an insult to Japan when we say that Singapore is clean. Period.

The standard of cleanliness among our countries is totally different.

4) Rice

I've been pondering about the standard of the sushi in Singapore in comparison to Japan. Obviously, ours suck more.

In my opinion, there is one significant difference, the quality of the rice. Japan's pearl rice has a complete different texture and taste compared to our rice, and its not sold overseas.

1 bowl of rice costs more than $3.

It's totally different. It's not that we have more rice than fish in our sushi, its more like Japan's rice is too expensive to be used more extensively.

At least, that is what I think.

Another different is that the rice in the sushi has more air spaces in between them, which makes it easier to chew. I'm wondering if this is a matter of skill or the quality of rice.

Then again, I'm not pro.

5) Night view.

I can stand on the mountain and do nothing but simply stare at the night scenery. Seriously. It's amazing.

And I'm not even talking about mountains. I'm talking about city lights.

What is Singapore?

The night view over the Hodate mountain is kind of amazing.

I can stay there the whole time. The temperature and wind is awesome too.

Besides, there was some kind of a Gundam exhibition.

I am saving all my money to spend on the seafood market tmr.

The Fall of Single Feather...

Carpe Diem

To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry.

The Fall of Single Feather...

Days

To those that complain that they're life is sad, and they shouldn't continue to live.

O Me! O Life! by Walt Whitman

O Me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring;
Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish;
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d;
Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me;
Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined;
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.

That you are here—that life exists, and identity;
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.
