WASHINGTON (AFP) - – US researchers have developed the first self-replicating bacteria cell controlled by a synthetic genome, but denied they were playing God or seeking to recreate life in a test-tube.
"This is the first synthetic cell that's been made," said lead researcher Craig Venter, unveiling the culmination of 15 years of research.
"We call it synthetic because the cell is totally derived from a synthetic chromosome, made with four bottles of chemicals on a chemical synthesizer, starting with information in a computer."
The method could be used to design bacteria specifically to help produce biofuels or to clean up environmental hazards, said the study carried out by the J. Craig Venter Institute, and published in the journal Science.

I mean it man. This is serious.
Self-replicating bacteria cells which totally counts for infecting other humans. Only thing is if the medium is actually saliva. Or maybe it could be air.
Producing biofuels could be the reason why zombies could actually move even though they are dead and do not bother to digest anything in their stomach.
Clean up environmental hazards only makes it even more obvious. THEY ARE GOING TO KILL US MAN. KILL US.
If humans aren't environmental hazards, what is? WHAT IS?
On a second thought, maybe they are zombies that would not kill people who do not harm the enviroment.
